Everything we wear is a uniform categorizing us by our gender, race and class. We chose our clothing to express ourselves as individuals but what we are really doing is grouping ourselves within a group of other people like us. We judge people based on what they wear and often make assumptions about their personality based on their clothing. In a world where every one is uniformed The Uniform Project is my attempt to become un-uniformed through individualized, personal uniforms.
The rules of the project are:
1. Uniform will be wore at all times, day and night, for the duration of the project (Sept. 21st- Dec. 11th) All clothing that is not a part of The Uniform Project shall be packed away until the project is over.
2. 25% of every uniform must be hand made and the remaining 75% must be altered to eliminate standardization of mass produced clothing. (This excludes shoes)
3. Colors are only to include honey yellow, navy blue, and white.
